Angie's List Review
I called Mike on Thanksgiving morning because I needed help rescuing my cat Felix from a tree, where he had been stuck 40 feet up all night, meowing miserably. Felix is not the hardy outdoors type - he spends most of his time sleeping on a blanket on top of a heating pad on top of a cat bed on top of my bed. To say that he's not used to roughing it would be an understatement. I had spent the night sick with worry over my poor kitty, who was all alone and cold, huddled on a branch high in the sky. I had tried to get him down myself, but it was impossible - he was up way too far, and he was clearly too terrified to try to make it down on his own. Finally, I reluctantly went to bed, promising to bring help first thing in the morning. I called Mike at the crack of dawn, and he came right over with his lovely wife Nancy. They graciously brushed aside my apologies for interrupting their holiday, and Mike got right to work putting on his tree-climbing gear. With the nimble grace of someone with a ton of experience, Mike shimmied right up that tree, gripped the frightened cat firmly yet gently, and quickly rappelled back down. Within seconds of first being grasped by Mike, my Felix was returned safely to me, and I nearly sobbed with relief. A few minutes later, I was pulling out my checkbook, fully prepared for this holiday house call to cost dearly. I am not wealthy, but I would have spent my last cent to have Felix home safe and sound. I was deeply grateful for Mike's help and would have been more than happy to compensate him for it. But to my amazement, Mike and Nancy firmly refused any payment! They simply suggested that I make a donation to a charity of my choice (the shelter where we adopted Felix will be receiving a check shortly :). You don't come across that kind of integrity every day. I was stunned. I will be using Affordable Tree Experts for all my tree-related needs in the future (hopefully no more involving cats!). When you meet a professional with that kind of character, you stick with them. Thanks again, Mike and Nancy!!
